Approved Hants County Express drivers can use the official Android app to access the Driver Pool, receive immediate new-order alerts, keep GPS availability live, navigate deliveries, update delivery status and upload pickup/drop-off proof photos.
📱 Android Setup — Important
For the strongest Driver Pool alerts, install the official APK and allow the permissions the app requests. Android always gives the phone owner final control over notification and battery settings.
- Install the APK (version 2.0.0). This is a separate new app install. Sign in and allow precise location, then turn Work ON. Keep only one driver app sending GPS. If Android asks, allow your browser/file manager to “Install unknown apps” for this installation. Only install the APK downloaded from this Hants County Express page.
- Allow notifications. Choose Allow when Android asks. Keep Driver Pool notification sound, vibration, lock-screen notifications and pop-up/heads-up alerts enabled.
- Allow location while using the app. The driver system uses GPS for Work ON availability, customer tracking and route functions.
- Allow background location if Android requests it. This helps Work ON/GPS continue while the screen is locked.
- Set battery use to Unrestricted / Don’t optimize. In Android App Info → Battery, allow HCE to run in the background so standby does not delay alerts.
- Allow background/mobile data. Do not restrict background data for Hants County Express.
- Allow camera/photos. Required for pickup and drop-off proof photos.
- Open the app and turn Work ON. This starts the driver availability/GPS workflow and registers the phone for Driver Pool notifications.
🚨 New Delivery Alerts
When an eligible new delivery enters the Driver Pool, the Android app can receive a high-priority notification even while the screen is locked/standby, provided Android notifications/background access remain enabled.
Opening the HCE app or dealing with the notification stops the active spoken alert. The Driver Pool then shows the order details and driver commission before acceptance.
